About Us

Our Story

Tiger Mountain began in the misty valleys of Kaeo, in New Zealand's Far North, at the turn of the millennium. Paul Tucker and Anne Carson were passionate about espresso coffee — and disappointed to find the Far North devoid of a good local offering, they began to roast their own beans, prioritising freshness and deep, expressive flavours.

Small hobbyist gear was soon moved aside for a beautiful cast iron 1973 Probat GN12 roaster that remains in use today. Awards and accolades followed, and Tiger Mountain gathered a devoted fanbase across the region.

A New Chapter

Now the time has come to pass the baton to the next runner. Local couple Asher and Dani have stepped up to take Tiger Mountain forward. Asher spent his childhood in the adjacent Waiare valley, just outside Kaeo, and both he and Dani share a deep love of good coffee and the beautiful Far North.

With two small children in tow, Asher and Dani look forward to continuing the Tiger Mountain legacy — delivering the freshest and best-tasting coffee beans to fuel that all-important morning (or afternoon!) ritual.

Tiger Mountain. Over twenty years in the making. Roasted slowly, patiently, and with love.
